These terms govern your use of our website and music lesson services. We've tried to write them clearly and fairly.
Last Updated: December 2025
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of In Home Music Teachers, LLC's ("we," "our," or "us") website and music lesson services. By using our website or services, you agree to these Terms.
We connect students with qualified music instructors for in-home and online lessons across multiple cities. If something in these terms doesn't make sense, please ask us.
We provide a platform that matches students with music teachers based on location, instrument, schedule, and preferences. We coordinate the initial matching process, handle scheduling inquiries, and provide ongoing support. Lessons are taught by independent instructors who set their own teaching methods and curriculum.
When you inquire about lessons or register for our services, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information. You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials and for all activity under your account.
If you're registering on behalf of a minor, you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian and have authority to bind them to these Terms. You're responsible for supervising your child's participation in lessons.
Lesson times are scheduled between you and your assigned instructor, with our coordination as needed. Regular weekly lessons are encouraged for optimal progress, but we understand schedules vary.
We require at least 24 hours' notice for lesson cancellations. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged the full lesson fee at the instructor's discretion. We understand emergencies happen—please communicate with us, and we'll do our best to accommodate genuine emergencies.
If your instructor needs to cancel, we'll work to reschedule the lesson or provide a makeup lesson at no additional charge.
Safety comes first. Lessons may be cancelled or converted to online lessons during severe weather. We'll communicate any weather-related changes as soon as possible.
Lesson rates vary by location, instructor experience, and lesson length. Current pricing is provided when you inquire about lessons and may be updated periodically. We'll notify you of any rate changes before they take effect.
Payment is due according to the schedule established when you begin lessons (typically monthly or per-lesson). We accept major credit cards and other payment methods as specified on our website.
If payment is not received by the due date, lessons may be paused until the balance is resolved. We'd rather work with you than lose you as a student—please communicate with us if you're having payment difficulties.
Prepaid lessons that are properly cancelled (with 24+ hours' notice) can be rescheduled or credited to your account. Refunds for unused prepaid lessons are available upon request, minus any lessons already completed.
For in-home lessons, you agree to provide a safe, clean, and appropriate space for instruction, including a properly maintained instrument (in tune, working parts, etc.) and a quiet area suitable for focused learning.
Students are expected to attend scheduled lessons on time and come prepared. Regular practice between lessons significantly improves progress—while we can't enforce practice, we strongly encourage it.
We expect respectful, professional conduct toward instructors. We reserve the right to discontinue services in cases of harassment, abuse, or consistently disruptive behavior.
Please keep us informed of any changes to your contact information, schedule needs, or concerns about your lessons. Open communication helps us serve you better.
Our instructors are independent contractors, not employees. They bring their own teaching expertise, methods, and style. While we screen instructors for qualifications and professionalism, they maintain independence in how they teach.
We conduct background checks on all instructors before they begin teaching through our service. However, we encourage parents to exercise their own judgment and supervise lessons as they see fit, particularly for young children.
If you wish to continue lessons with an instructor outside of our service, please discuss this with us. Our instructors agree not to solicit direct arrangements, and we ask that you respect this as well.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, In Home Music Teachers, LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim related to our services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
While we strive to match you with excellent instructors, we cannot guarantee specific learning outcomes, skill levels, or progress. Musical development depends on many factors including practice, aptitude, and commitment.
Music lessons involve physical activity (playing instruments) and, for in-home lessons, having an instructor visit your home. You assume reasonable risks associated with these activities.
While we screen our instructors and set expectations for professional conduct, we are not liable for the independent actions of instructors that fall outside the scope of their lesson duties.
Our website content, branding, and materials are owned by In Home Music Teachers, LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission.
If you provide us with testimonials, reviews, or other content, you grant us permission to use that content for marketing purposes. We won't use your content in a way that misrepresents your views.
You may stop using our services at any time. We appreciate advance notice so we can properly conclude your instructor relationship and handle any final payments or credits.
We may suspend or terminate your access to our services if you violate these Terms, fail to pay for services, or engage in conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to our business, instructors, or other customers. We'll try to provide notice and an opportunity to address issues before termination, except in cases of serious violations.
Upon termination, your right to use our services ends. Any outstanding payment obligations survive termination. Prepaid amounts for lessons not yet taken will be refunded, minus any amounts owed.
If you have a concern or dispute, please contact us first. Most issues can be resolved through direct communication, and we genuinely want to make things right.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Arbitration will take place in Houston, Texas. You and In Home Music Teachers, LLC each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in class actions.
Either party may bring claims in small claims court if the claims qualify.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post changes on this page and update the "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we'll provide more prominent notice. Continued use of our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and In Home Music Teachers, LLC regarding our services.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights to a successor or affiliate.
